We All Rise is hosting a Juneteenth contest. In celebration of Juneteenth, middle school and high school students are invited to showcase their artistic talent by participating in the Juneteenth Design Contest. This is an exciting opportunity to express your creativity, celebrate the spirit of Juneteenth, and contribute to a meaningful cause. The winning high school design will be featured on a t-shirt. Theme: "Black Men as Caregivers"  Submission Deadline: March 1, 2024. Learn more at:

February is Black History Month:
students can learn more about Black History Month by watching the TVs in the hallways for important facts regarding the contributions of black Americans on our society.

Seniors have the opportunity to design the cover of the graduation program for the class of 2024. The design could be inspired by the Senior quote: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” by Dr. Seuss, or they can create something unique. Seniors should check their email for cover requirements, and see Student Services with any questions.

If you are interested in joining track and field, sign up for the Google Classroom using code: 4fye7d. More information is posted in the classroom.

Students looking for ACT prep should sign up on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Edficiency for test taking tips and practice testing.

Future Educators of America will be meeting during WildCat Day on February 20th, in the band room. We will be discussing: upcoming field trips, community service opportunities, future visitor ideas, and fundraising for future events. Be sure to sign up in Edficiency for February 20th, and see Ms. Scherer with any questions.

Vote for Superlatives! Who is the most athletic? Most likely to be asleep in class? Best bromance?  Check your email for the Google Form to vote on these questions and more for the yearbook. The email was sent on February 7th. See Jill in room 127 with any questions.

College/Career Exploration
NWTC Engineering Open House will be on Tuesday, February 20th, from 4-7 pm. This is for students interested in math, science or technology. No registration is necessary, you can just stop by that evening. See Ms. Sternig in room 219 if you are interested.

Sophomores, Junior and Seniors: If you are considering a branch of the military after graduation or the National Guard, you will take a placement test called the ASVAB to help determine career paths and the branch to join as well as other things.  We are offering the ASVAB here at West High School on Tuesday, February 20th starting at 7:30 AM.  Please stop in room 219 (the Career Center) or student services to sign up to take the exam and we will schedule you for testing.  You can also email [email protected] to sign up or ask any questions you may have.

If you are interested in anything that relates to education or human services for a career someday, we are taking a field trip to NWTC and UWGB to explore the education needed to work in those fields.  Date: Wednesday, February 28th.  These field trips are helpful because they allow you to see both NWTC and UWGB campuses as well as do some hands- on work in different classrooms.  It's fun and we learn something!  Stop in the career center, Room 219 or email [email protected] to sign up with Liz for this field trip.

Juniors and Seniors, interested in working in law enforcement or related fields? If so, WALLECA is a 5 day camp that offers physical fitness training, classroom instruction and hands-on experiences. The 2024 academy will be July 29- August 2 at the Wisconsin State Patrol Training Academy at Fort McCoy.  It is totally free to the cadets and you stay in the dorms at the academy, all meals and supplies are furnished. The application process is now open until March 31.  The application must be printed out, completed to include all required signatures. It can be mailed or emailed to the academy.  (Ms. Liz in room 219 can help with this, please stop by)  Students that have any questions about the program can stop in or email [email protected].
