Important Dates
Seniors interested in trying out for speaker at Graduation or the Senior Awards Night, please contact Mrs. VandeWalle room 224 or email her.  Tryouts will be held April 17th at 3:05 in room 224.

Seniors should also vote for the West staff they would like to read names at graduation. Please scan the QR code in announcements and vote!

Service hours for this school year are due by April 30th.  You can pick up blank service hour sheets in student services or room 219 (the career center)  . You can also turn in your completed forms to either of these places.  Please make sure your forms are able to be read with your full name.  

Study Hall rooms will once again change on Monday, April 22nd. Students should check their Student Portal the morning of the 22nd to see where they should report for Study Hall.

Procedures
It’s time to name our Wildcat mascot!  Students should work together in their Advisory to come up with a name.for our mascot.  Advisory teachers should submit the chosen name through the link in Daily Announcements.

Please remember that students should be parking only in the white-lined stalls in the east parking lot. The west lot and yellow-lined stalls are reserved for staff and visitors.

Interested in joining Colorguard for 2024? Join us for an informational meeting on May 2nd, during Advisory. We will be discussing auditions, summer practices and performance schedule. You must attend or connect with Ms. Scherer to get involved. Sign up through Edficiency for this meeting.

Clubs/Groups/Meetings
Students in grades 9-11 should consider representing
West at the District-level next year. If interested in applying for the Intra-City Student Council, contact Ms. Brown in Student Services.  Currently, meetings are held one Sunday evening each month. Questions? Talk to any of our current reps: Damaris Vasquez-Ortega, Kia Yang, Elizabeth Vera, Lizayah Dates or Stacy Martinez.  Thank you to each of our reps for positively representing West High this year!

College/Career Exploration

If you want to see how a local company operates from the manufacturing floor to their IT department.  From their marketing, designing and testing products, we have a great field trip for you.  KI, a local office (and school furniture company)  hosts West students for a day of learning all about the company.  And, 17 year olds and seniors: there are many summer jobs and full-time work after graduation!  Date is Wednesday, April 24th. If you have an interest in this field trip or questions, stop by the career center (room 219) or email Ms. Liz (emsternig) to find out more or to sign up!

Seniors and Juniors: West will be attending a manufacturing hiring fair at NWTC at the end of the month.  Space is limited, but if you are looking for a great job after graduation or an apprenticeship as a junior, this is your chance!  NWTC will help you prepare to interview on this day, so signing up is necessary.  Please stop in room 219 (the career center) or contact Ms. Liz ([email protected]) if you have any interest or questions.  Date is Thursday, April 25th in the morning.  Bussing is provided.

Sophomores!  If you have an interest in sports, marketing, business and the field of hospitality for work, we have a great field trip coming up!  Green and Gold Day at Lambeau Field Atrium!  Friday, April 26th we will head over to learn about careers!  If you are interested in attending please stop by room 219 (the career center) or email Ms. Liz ([email protected]) with your questions and to sign up!  Space is limited. 

The GenCyber program provides cybersecurity experiences and exposure for 9th-11th grade students, as they increase awareness of postsecondary and career opportunities to accomplish new levels of success. The camp runs from July 7th-12th. For more information, visit uww.edu/precollege/programs/gencyber.

Any West Students interested in working in the medical or health care field trip: St. Vincent Hospital is hosting career exploration days this summer.  Also called: Bootcamp.  You will have opportunities to job shadow and to learn so much more about health care interacting in the hospital for a day.  This opportunity fills up fast and the application is live online!  You have to do it sooner than later to get a spot!  It is like applying for a job to attend this, please be prepared to take a little time and fill out an application, even if you leave spaces blank!

Seniors: If you are planning on college or technical school
after graduation, but have not started applying, please reach out to Liz in room 219 or email [email protected] about this.   If you have not completed your FAFSA for school, we can help you in the career center, please stop in or reach out.  The FAFSA helps you with college, it's important!  If you are interested in scholarships, ALL the information is located in the google classroom, please use it and apply. There is a lot out there, but you have to apply!
