Work Permits

To obtain a work permit, the student will need:

  • A Job
  • Employer's written intent to hire, including job duties to be performed and the hours and time of day to be worked.
  • Proof of age (Birth or Baptismal Certificate, Wisconsin ID Card or Wisconsin Driver's License)
  • Social Security Card (NOT a copy and NOT just the number)
  • Parent/guardian written consent
  • Payment of $10 permit fee, to be reimbursed to the minor no later than the minor's first paycheck.

These documents are NOT negotiable.

Parents do not need to sign the work permit, nor do they need to be present for the minor to obtain one.

Work Permits are job specific- if you get a new job, you need a new permit!
