First Annual GB Trades Day

Students and community members packed the gym at Southwest High School on February 18, 2026, for the first annual Green Bay Trades Day.

Around 50 local companies participated in Trades Day, showing a strong demand for skilled workers across Brown County. High School students from across the Green Bay Area Public School District attended the event throughout the day. Adults in the community interested in the trades were also invited to attend.

This newly launched event was created to showcase careers in the trades and the vital role they play in Northeast Wisconsin’s economy. Trades Day was designed to connect employers directly with students and community members interested in learning more about careers in the skilled trades. 

Numerous fields were represented at Trades Day including construction, welding, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and more. Employers also attended to represent related fields such as, engineering, architecture, and transportation. 

Trades Day supports both students and adults in accessing viable, well‑paying jobs. Construction and extraction positions in the Green Bay metro area pay an average of $31.94 per hour, which is higher than the national average of $30.73.

Green Bay Trades Day was hosted in collaboration with the City of Green Bay, the Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) Construction Alliance, and the Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship at Southwest High School.
