GBAPS Schools Honor Fallen On 9/11

Schools across the Green Bay Area Public School District remembered and honored the victims of 9/11 this week. 

Franklin Middle School welcomed Ron Parker, a retired NYFD firefighter who worked the 9/11 rescue, to Franklin on September 10, 2025.

Mr. Parker shared about his experience as a firefighter leading up to and following the 9/11 terror attacks.

After Mr. Parker's presentation, students in gym class participated in Franklin's annual stair climb with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.

Some students tried on the fire department's equipment for their stair climb.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department #3 joined West High School students for a remembrance and bleacher climb on September 11, 2025.

The West High School marching band performed the National Anthem, and firefighters led a moment of silence. 

Students then walked up and down the bleachers and around the track.

Throughout the day, West High School's physical education students climbed the bleachers 11 times during each class period, which is only 1/10 of the equivalent of the 110 stories the firefighters climbed on September 11, 2001.
